Textile and visual artist

Samantha Adler is a Multidisciplinary artist based in New York and Savannah , GA.

Sam A is a modern day alchemist working with botanicals, plant matter, minerals, non toxic metals and food wastes to create fabrics that are respectful of the environment. By integrating a vast array of techniques and experimentation, including shibori, bundle dying, hand painting dying, she curates her textiles specifically for the intention, whether a client a design or her own personal artwork. Her approach is centered around to creating specific color treatments without compromising the environment.

Her work integrates the external and internal world through the poetic act of weaving in and out. Using methods of crocheting, felting, illustrating and dying with natural and acid dyes. I translate the world I perceive sensibly and precisely, harnessing inspiration from the natural and Metaphysical Worlds, as well as Artistic Movements such as surrealism, dadaism and land art. Creating is an alchemy of processing life literally and figuratively.

Ultimately, quest is to explore and mark my story of navigation in our ever changing world.

A quote by Cecilia Vicuña, “Word is a thread and the thread is a language. Non liner body. A line associated to other lines. A word once written risks becoming lines but word and thread exist on another dimensional plane. Vibratory forms in space and in time. Acts of Union and separation. The thread feels the hand as the world feels the tongue. Structures of feeling in the double sense of sensing and signifying, the word and the thread feel out passing.”
